It’s been exciting to see students grow! They’ve increased their understanding of God, His world, and their place in it. They’ve developed and demonstrated their thinking, communication, and collaboration skills in a variety of ways, including writing essays, doing science labs, and giving group presentations. And they’ve created artwork, given performances like the Christmas Program and Fine Arts Showcase, and completed service projects.
It’s also been exciting to see both staff and OCSI grow. Staff have learned more about engaging instruction and deepened their understanding that OCSI is Christ-centered community that focuses on our mission, vision, and philosophy. OCSI moved forward technologically, with 113 more Chromebooks, campus-wide wifi, and the decision to move to a new student information system. OCSI has also refined our expected student outcomes, schoolwide action plan, and financial plans, all of which will help us make OCSI an even better school.
Finally, it’s been exciting to be part of a supportive community. Thank you, parents, for supporting your children and OCSI staff. Thank you for being involved in a range of activities, including cross-country meets, Walkathon, basketball games, Holiday Market, volleyball and soccer matches, Bazaar, Kid City, track meets, and Field Day. And thank you for completing our annual survey (see survey results, not including results on income and church attendance). The Leadership Team discussed the results and decided on action steps, including developing a handbook entry explaining whom to contact when you have a question, reviewing with teachers the variety of assessments they use, and having principals send monthly newsletters.
