Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an On-Call Substitute Teacher who will be responsible for delivering instruction across all grade levels (kindergarten through high school) using the United States of America curriculum. This position requires no previous experience, but candidates must possess strong communication skills, flexibility, and adaptability. This position requires staff to already be in Japan and to hold some form of visa or SOFA status, as we cannot issue a visa for on-call subs.
Report: to Divisional Principal
Role: to provide learning opportunities in accordance with the school’s mission, vision, and
expected student outcomes during the classroom teacher’s absence, to include, but not limited to, the following:
1. Implement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher and ensure continuity of instruction.
2. Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, productive learning environment.
3. Supervise students during class time, recess, lunch, and transitions as needed.
4. Encourage a safe, healthy, nurturing learning environment that emphasizes high expectations and being kind, respectful, hard-working, and self-controlled.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Meet or exceed board-mandated qualifications (B2.2.1)
2. Must possess general childcare skills and be proficient in English. Education and/or training in education or childcare preferred.
3. Be willing to complete additional duties as assigned.
